The Matrix range of sewage treatment systems has been engineered for outstanding efficiency, minimal maintenance, and cost-effective installation. Each unit is designed to deliver reliable wastewater treatment with a straightforward setup, ensuring smooth operation and low ongoing costs.
Matrix systems come as a single, self-contained ‘unitank’ model suitable for domestic or small commercial applications up to approximately 300 population equivalents. For larger requirements, modular configurations are available to accommodate greater capacity and flexibility.
Exceptional Treatment Performance
Every Matrix system is designed to meet — and typically exceed — the standard effluent quality target of 20 mg/L Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), 30 mg/L Suspended Solids (SS), and 20 mg/L Ammoniacal Nitrogen (NH₄). Independent testing under European Standard conditions demonstrated an average efficiency exceeding 94%, with actual performance results achieving 96.2% efficiency on average, and peaks up to 98.8%.
These systems consistently produce treated water with measured levels around 11 mg/L BOD, 16 mg/L SS, and 7 mg/L NH₄ — surpassing the performance of many competing systems. In addition, Matrix units were found to operate with some of the lowest energy and maintenance costs in their class.
Construction and Design
Each Matrix plant is built with a standard inlet invert depth and can include integral pumped discharge systems, eliminating the need for separate tanks or extra installation work. All systems come fitted with failure alarms in line with BSEN12566-3 standards.
The process involves a three-stage biological treatment system contained within a single tank. The design is based on a submerged bed reactor, meeting the requirements of BS6297, ensuring reliable biological breakdown of waste materials.

Low-profile design with ground-level covers (rated for 1-tonne load).
-
Suitable for vehicle areas (up to D400 loading).
-
Energy-efficient with minimal running costs.
-
Integrated pump systems available on all models.
-
Deep inlet options to avoid pre-pumping of raw sewage.
CLF Unit
The core of the Matrix system is the CLF treatment unit, which includes the main polypropylene tank and an external enclosure housing the air blower assembly. The tank — supplied in black or blue — is fully watertight and corrosion-resistant, built to last with a locking manhole cover for access and inspection.
Inside, an air diffuser is positioned beneath the submerged filter media and connected via durable uPVC piping to the external blower.
Air Blower Assembly
The air blower and electrical controls are enclosed in a weatherproof cabinet, which includes a power isolator and a low-airflow alarm system linked to an external visual beacon. This ensures any loss of function is immediately visible for maintenance action.
Delivery Information
Matrix CLF units are supplied for customer offload. It is the responsibility of the customer to arrange suitable lifting equipment or manpower to unload the system safely from the delivery vehicle.
If assistance is required, tail-lift or HIAB (crane-assisted) delivery options can be arranged on request. Please contact us in advance to discuss the best method for your site.
